The 50+ Housing Council selected the subtle, linear slot-drain system manufactured by Quick Drain USA as one of the 10 Most Innovative Solutions in its 2010 Smart Choice Awards program. Quick Drain USA was recognized along with nine other “Smart Choices” in a ceremony hosted by the BIASC, 50+ Housing Council on May 20 at the Radisson Hotel in Newport Beach, California.Chosen by a panel of judges comprised of industry leaders, the ProLine Drain fulfilled the criteria of a "Smart Choice," defined as products or services that are innovative, environmentally-friendly and/or related to Universal Design. The ProLine Drain was recognized largely for its ability to provide high-design, curbless-entry showers for ADA-compliant, handicap accessible projects in 50+ housing markets, including active adult, age-targeted, senior condos, 55+ apartments, CCRCs and assisted living. "We certainly want to thank the BIASC and the 50+ Housing Council for taking the time to check out the ProLine Drain and recognizing us with this award," said Josef Erlebach, who attended the ceremony on behalf of Quick Drain USA. "This is a very important distinction for us in a category we have a lot to offer. We’ve always felt the product or system we provide was perfect for this market. Designers love to work with it, and it’s quick and easy to install to cut down on labor. When the ADA-compliant piece is factored in you can see how the ProLine Drain can add a lot of value across the board. It’s nice to know the 50-plus housing industry agrees with us."
The BIASC was the first local chapter of the National Association of Home Builders/50+ Housing Council, providing networking, education and partnership opportunities for professionals involved with any aspect of building housing for the 50+ markets.

ProLine Drain Helps Holland Tile Win DC Metro NARI Award
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The ProLine Drain by Quick Drain USA, the leading manufacturer of linear slot drain systems for creative designs and fast, efficient installations, was specified by Holland Tile Premier Installations as part of its 2009 Contractor of the Year award-winning master bath remodel, presented by the Metro DC Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.
Davis Holland Leichsenring, director of Holland Tile in Rockville, Maryland, created the master bath design for the high-end private residence remodel, including the decision to take advantage of the ProLine Drain by Quick Drain USA. For his efforts, Holland Tile took home the Metro DC Capital Chapter merit award from the NARI in the category of bathroom remodeling projects over $60,000. Leichsenring covets the design options provided by the subtle and sleek ProLine Drain, particularly the ability to use the linear slot drain in tandem with large format porcelain tiles, as well as for curbless and doorless showers.
“The ProLine Drain by Quick Drain USA opens up new possibilities that traditional round
center drains do not offer,” said Leichsenring. “From a design perspective, we can use large-format tiles and not have to worry about the slope to center. It’s a beautiful drain system, very attractive. The ProLine Drain also helps us create curbless showers. I can put the drain at the entrance and slope up to the back wall. There are several advantages and design options that we can’t accomplish without the linear channel drain.”
The ProLine Drain by Quick Drain USA is a subtle, linear slot drain system that can be placed anywhere in the design. This benefit allows for uninterrupted tile designs, while offering faster, more efficient installations since the mortar bed does not have to be sloped four different ways to the center for drainage. Leichsenring, who also did the actual installation for the award-winning master bath remodel, chose to further obscure the presence of the drain by installing it against the back wall hidden under the shower bench. Since Holland Tile was not concerned with interrupting the tile design and the time-consuming task of cutting and shaping tiles around a traditional round center drain, large-format tiles were used with minimalistic grout joints for this beautiful installation and master bathroom shower.
Leichsenring installed the linear slot drain from Quick Drain USA against the back wall under the shower bench and used 12” x 24” porcelain tiles with the floor sloped higher in the center to allow the homeowner to stand on dry ground. The contemporary porcelain tiles have grooves as part of the natural-look stone surface that enhance the slip-resistance and the benefit of not standing in water for the homeowners.

Quick Drain USA takes top award at national trade show
FRISCO, CO (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) – Quick Drain USA, the Colorado-based company behind a revolutionary new drain system, has captured the Best of Competition and Gold Award at the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show and Conference (KBIS) in Chicago.
“We are delighted that architects, builders and homeowners are recognizing the merits to our channel drain system,” says Josef Erlebach, founder and principal of Quick Drain USA. “The Best of Competition award solidifies our belief that Quick Drain will soon set the standard for revolutionary bathroom design and construction.”
Quick Drain is a slot drain that can be easily installed against a shower wall or under a shower door, thereby eliminating the need for a deep shower pan and the all-too-familiar drain in the center of the shower. Designers love the product for its versatility – now they can use large tiles on the shower floor; and builders are captivated by its sleek design, affordable cost and the ease and speed of installation.
KBIS is the premier industry event to showcase kitchen and bath products based on innovation and the ability to meet the needs of the marketplace. From more than 90 entries, Quick Drain USA was awarded the Best of Competition and Gold Award in the Bath Category for its Quick Drain Channel Drain System (patent pending). Judges were comprised of 12 industry-leading designers.
The first of its kind to be manufactured and sold in the USA, Quick Drain not only improves the appearance of the average shower, it provides ease for users (no more cold grate under your bare feet); eliminates the need for a four-way slope to a center drain (which allows for the bathroom floor tile to flow directly into the shower without interruption); and installation is greatly simplified. The drains also meet all specifications of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Each Quick Drain is constructed from high quality stainless steel, ensuring it will never rust or disintegrate. Its quality construction offers new solutions to hospitals, hotels and other commercial operators. In fact, new codes and standards are being considered as a result of its revolutionary concept. “This is a totally new and logical solution to what is often the most limiting design feature of a bathroom,” says Erlebach.
KBIS is a conference sponsored by The National Kitchen & Bath Association, an international non-profit organization that serves and represents businesses and individuals in the kitchen and bathroom industry. As the only trade association devoted exclusively to kitchens and baths, NKBA boasts more than 40,000 members.
